Alto Saxophonist – Swiss Youth Gospel Ensemble
The saxophonist and clarinettist Gianna Lavarini is originally from Pfäfers, SG. She discovered the saxophone at the age of ten and it accompanies her until today. She discovered her enthusiasm for jazz in the big band of the Sargans Cantonal School, where she also received further tuition in addition to her normal lessons. Since the summer of 2020, she has been studying music at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, majoring in jazz saxophone. She takes lessons with Roland von Flüe, John Voirol and Nathanael Su and attends masterclasses with Nicole Johänntgen in Bern. In addition to her main instrument, the alto saxophonist studies jazz clarinet as a minor subject, also with Roland von Flüe. Gianna Lavarini sees her future mainly in (big) band formations, musicals, theater and as a side(wo)man.
