Jazzaar Festival returns in 2023 to the Kultur und Kongresshaus Aarau on April 21st and 22nd with two concerts marking the 31st edition of its youth program, “Bandstand Learning with Role Models”. We’re celebrating our return to live shows with attractive offers such as Early Bird discounts until March 20!
The Jazzaar Festival 2023 will be packed with activities starting on Monday, April 17 with workshops and rehearsals in the Alte Reithalle and the Aula of the Alte Kantonsschule in Aarau. A jam session for the participants and public in the Restaurant Einstein in Aarau on the evening of Wednesday, April 19 will also be back commemorating this long-held tradition in Aarau.
The bandstand activities at the Jazzaar Festival in the next 5 years starting in 2023, will also be a research platform for the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence led by Prof. Dr. Peter Gloor of MIT, Boston, USA (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Their goal is to create a universal virtual mirroring system, to fully leverage the positive influence of people, nature, music, and architecture on human well-being.
On Friday, April 21 the Jazzaar Festival Latin Band led by Gil Goldstein presents a hot salsa evening called “Cuban Spirit“, a production presenting artists such as Gonzalo Rubalcaba – p, Johana Jo Jones – voc, Oscar Stagnaro – b, Paulo Stagnaro – Perc, Tony Martinez – as, Yuliesky Gonzalez – tp and 18 members of the previously named Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra.
On Saturday, April 22 the Jazzaar Festival Big Band under the direction of Fritz K. Renold with artists Ryan Quigley – Ltp, Tony Lakatos – ts, Ray Angry – keys, Mark Whitfield – g, James Genus – b and Gene Lake – d as well as 12 members of the previously named Swiss Youth Funk Ensemble will delight the audience with a “Funk-Jazz Extravaganza” in the KuK Aarau.

So Jazzaar Festival is back with a bang and with a treat for Funk-Jazz fans as well as Latin Jazz aficionados. All this is made possible by the Swisslos of the Canton Aargau, the Borough of Aarau, private sponsors, patrons, foundations, and the ardent volunteers of the Jazzaar Association.
