Filippo Valli
Alto Saxophonist – The Jazzaar Festival Latin Band
I’m Filippo Valli, born 24 years ago in Lugano, Switzerland, where I lived and studied until the age of 18. Now I’m in Luzern doing my master’s in jazz performance at the “Hochschule Musik”.
My first instrument is the Alto sax, but I also play Tenor, Flute, and Clarinet very often in Big Bands and in various groups. It is my aspiration to pursue a career as a saxophonist specializing also in arrangement and composition.

To date, I’ve gathered some good experiences at the Modern Music school in Lugano (SMUM), the Berklee school in Valencia, and also in the classes at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia.
I completed my 8th degree in Alto Saxophone and Flute at Trinity College and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor’s in Jazz Performance at the “Civica Music School Claudio Abbado” in Milan, Italy. While there I had the opportunity to play in various interesting ensembles and big bands such as Paolo Tomelleri’s Swing Band, where I was the first alto saxophonist, and Enrico Intra’s Big Band on Tenor and flute. In Milan, I had the pleasure of learning from and playing with some of the best musicians in the Italian jazz scene, such as Paolo Tomelleri, Enrico Intra, Gabriele Comeglio, Giulio Visibelli, Luca Missiti, Claudio Fasoli, Emilio Soana, Tony Arco, Marco Vaggi, and many others.

I’m very happy for the chance to join the Jazzaar family this year with an incredible opportunity to play with some of the best and most renowned musicians in the world and to get to know other Swiss musicians my age.
