Hailing from Sweden Anders Bostrom recorded his first album with the Swedish jazz fusion group “Sonant Space”. After his basic education in Sweden he studied jazz and music synthesis at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. During his time in Boston he toured with the group “Full Circle” and recorded three albums for CBS. The group included Anders, Ahmad Monsour, John Stein, Brian Ales and Matt Johnson. After moving to New York in 1991, he joined the Giovanni Hidalgo Group and recorded the album “Time Shifter”. As a sideman, he played on jazz recordings with Walt Weiskopf, Donny McCaslin, Bruno Raberg, Fernando Tarres, Erik Lundmark, Fernando Huergo, Paul Renz, Paula Cole, The Story and Sandy Lam. Anders has been playing on Broadway in “The Lion King” since 1999. This brought him closer to the sounds of the bamboo flute which he learned with great passion. Broadway shows where Anders can be heard on bamboo flute and flute include “Bombay Dreams”, “Tarzan” and “Shrek, the Musical”. His bamboo flute playing can also be heard on the soundtracks of “Get Real”!
