Guitar – Swiss Youth Funk Ensemble
Levent is a self taught guitarist who has been playing since the age of 12 (now aged 25).
He started learning guitar initially because of his love of heavy rock/blues music and a burning desire to be able to play his favourite music, but as time went on he explored and started playing many kinds of music ranging from jazz/funk to flamenco/latin music to psychedelic/progressive music.
He has been playing in a jazz manouche/world music duo for the past 5 years and during this time Levent was involved in music workshops in Cuba, a music project with the Roma community in Istanbul, gigs around the Philippines and various events in London, including Vivienne Westwood’s fashion show and Hyde Park festival.
He took his grade 8 independently when he was 15. He went to Trinity Laban in Greenwich London when he was 16 to study music technology and at the same time done a BTEC in musical performance in Southend(UK).
He has also been teaching guitar since he was 19.
“My dream is to be a full time musician, it is something I have wanted to do since I first picked up the guitar. I love performing live, doing session work and writing my own music and I want to go further with my musical career learning new things/philosophies, meeting new people and having meaningful experiences along the way.”
“I want to play at Jazzaar to try and increase my musical knowledge, enjoy and learn new music, to be involved in and to collaborate effectively in an interesting musical project and to network and meet other musicians.”
