Isabella Bleisch

Alto Saxophonist – Swiss Youth Gospel Ensemble

I discovered the saxophone for myself at a young age and learned under Raffaele Lunardi, John Voirol, Roland von Flüe and Nathanael Su. At the moment I am studying jazz at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and will graduate this summer with a Bachelor’s degree. I have played in various jazz ensembles, played in symphony orchestra projects, and am currently in the big band of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In March 2021 we released our first record ‘Inception’ with the band project ‘Open Box’ and are currently working on the continuation of the project. In the trio Ama Anna we play jazz standards and bossa novas as well as original compositions, in which I also participate vocally. With my Quintet IZA in the spring of 2022 it was the first time that my own instrumental compositions were performed on stage.
I wanted to be part of the Jazzaar Festival for a chance to work with professional musicians* from all over the world. In addition to that, the studio recordings were an exciting and very educational process that I could only benefit from.
