Fiona Busse-Grawitz

Singer – The Jazzaar Festival Latin Band

I’m Fiona Busse-Grawitz, I was born in 2002 in Sarnen OW and I’m currently studying jazz singing with a focus on composition in my bachelor’s degree at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. I began playing classical guitar at the age of 7. I was inspired to do so by my father, whom I heard playing Argentinean and Spanish guitar music every day.

At the age of 10, I started singing lessons and through this, I discovered in music a place of refuge where I could express myself and be myself. In high school, I sang pop, soul, and funk in several bands and gained my first stage experiences at graduation ceremonies, Music Matura, competitions, and open mics. In 2020 my Matura thesis “Let’s R&B!” was awarded as one of the best Matura theses in central Switzerland.

I started to write some more of my own songs and to accompany myself on piano or guitar. Also at this time, I was getting more in touch with jazz singing, which fascinated me very much. So after high school, I attended the PreCollege at the HSLU and began taking lessons with Kristin Berardi and Sarah Büchi, David Grottschreiber, and Claudia Döffinger. In 2021 we made it to the finals of “Sprungfeder” with the band “Jametite”. At the moment I am in the duo “Limelite” with vocals and guitar.

I am very much looking forward to participating in the Jazzaar Festival and learning from extremely accomplished musicians who are present in the scene, and in a practical context that focuses on making music together.
