Amelio Tambini
Amelio Tambini – Upright Bass – Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra
My name is Amelio Tambini and am 17 years old. I have been attending the grammar school in Liestal since 2017 with a focus on music. I began studying double bass under Michael Bürgin at the age of 7 and since 2014 also saxophone under Sascha Schönhaus.
As a child I played in the classical ensemble of the regional music school, which consisted of two violins, a viola, a cello and a double bass (2013-2015).
Where I am at the grammar school, I play the electric bass, double bass and also the saxophone in its big band.
Since the past 2 years I’ve been leading my own quintet with vocals called “The Power Of Basement”. We play music in the direction of jazz and funk.
I am very interested in jazz music therefore will integrate it in my Matura work.
I am proud to be able to participate at Jazzaar. To make music together with such great musicians and to learn from them is a dream come true for every music student. And the fact that I have been given this opportunity makes me immensely happy.
I’m certain the experience I will gain in the Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra will be very valuable for me and my future musical path.
