2022 – A Tribute to Chick Corea
The Jazzaar Festival Big Band
with John Patitucci, Peter Erskine & Christian Jacob
Directed by Fritz K Renold
The program aimed to showcase a historical selection of Chick’s compositions, blending his early works with more contemporary pieces and highlighting his diverse contributions to jazz. Including an arrangement from the Lincoln Jazz Orchestra further emphasizes the connection to Corea’s rich musical legacy. The band featured a talented lineup of guest artists as role models, including Wayne Bergeron on lead trumpet and Tom Walsh on trumpet. Eijiro Nakagawa, Tom Dunnett, and Tommy Smith also contributed to the project, with Smith providing one of the arrangements. Their involvement adds further depth and expertise to the ensemble, which consists of up-and-coming, enthusiastic young talents, enriching the collaborative spirit of the initiative inspired by Chick Corea’s legacy.
