Youth Application 2022 .

Auditions on January 08, 2022 in Aarau

For musicians 16 - 26 years of age

Application Closing Date: December 31, 2021

Attention: All communication will be in English. Participants are required to have a good command of the English Language

Selected participants engage in a week-long rehearsal in one of the two ‘Bandstand Learning with Role Models’ productions playing new compositions and arrangements for one or more live performances.

The productions are supervised and accompanied by an international all-star cast. Both programmes are premiered in Aarau with one eventually doing follow-up concerts in other Swiss towns.

Auditions will be held in Aarau for Swiss applicants and online for international candidates. Participants will be selected based on level of musicianship and enthusiasm in jazz and crossover projects.

Tribute to Chick Corea - the Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra (SYJO)

April 18 - 22, 2022

For youth musicians between the ages of 16-26 years old

The Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra will be directed by Dr. Tommy Smith and accompanied by the following guest artistes:

– Eddie Gomez – b (USA)
– Kenny Garrett – as (USA)
– Wayne Bergeron – tp (USA)
– Vincent Gardner (USA)
– Christian Jacob – p (F)
– Steve Gadd – d (USA)

Youth that play the following instruments and doubling may apply for this production.

For the Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra (SYJO) applications for the following instruments are open:

  • Trumpets,
  • Trombones,
  • Tenor Saxophones,
  • Alto Saxophones,
  • Baritone Saxophones,
  • Guitar,
  • Electric Bass,
  • Drums/Percussions

Workshops, rehearsals and jam sessions are open to public respectively in:
The Altereithalle Aarau, Alte Kantonsshule Aarau (Aula) and the  Restaurant Einstein Aarau.

R&B Gospel Concert - the Swiss Youth Gospel Ensemble (SYGE)

April 18 -26, 2022

For youth musicians between the ages of 16-26 years old

The Swiss Youth Gospel Ensemble directed by Fritz K Renold will play an original Gospel Oratorio featuring international guest artists as role models to youth such as:

– Louis Dowdesdwell – tp (UK)

– Dennis Montgomery – hammond org. (USA)
– Richard Bona – ab (USA)
– Michael Baker – d (USA)
– plus a Special Guest

For the Swiss Youth Gospel Ensemble (SYGE) application for the following instruments are open:

  • Vocals (Soprano, Alto, Tenor),
  • Flute/Alto Flute,
