Percussionist – The Jazzaar Festival Latin Band
Born in 1999, Jonas Hutter showed an extraordinary passion for music from an early age. He began playing the drums at the age of 6 and soon joined the local brass band to gain valuable experience playing with other musicians. Jonas’ natural musical talent caught the attention of his teachers, who recommended him for the “Talentschule für Musik” in Altstätten.
At the Talentsschule, Jonas received formal training in music theory and performance, developed his skills as a percussionist, and discovered new musical horizons through piano, conga, and marimba lessons. He quickly became known for his team spirit and musical abilities, and at the age of 14 even had the opportunity to take his drum teacher’s place in the local church band, where he played alongside professional musicians for the first time.
Despite his dedication to music, Jonas also pursued his academic studies and attended the gymnasium in 2014. However, his love for drumming never wavered, and he continued to develop his skills in his spare time. After his final year of the gymnasium, Jonas took a break from school and dedicated himself to music. He participated in a studio live session with the Big Band Liechtenstein and played in various other musical projects.
That year away from formal education was crucial for Jonas. It allowed him to immerse himself in music and explore his creative potential. With renewed focus and determination, he made the decision to fully dedicate himself to music and enrolled in the renowned Jazz Percussion program at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), with acclaimed drummer Ruven Ruppik as his teacher and mentor.
Since then, Jonas has continued to hone his musical skills and expand his repertoire. He has become a sought-after percussionist, collaborating with musicians of various genres and performing at concerts and festivals throughout Switzerland.
