Quincy's Joint | Jazzaar Festival

Young musicians between the age of 16 and 24 may apply to audition to participate in the Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra 2012, performing at Jazzaar Festival.

 

Quincy’s Joint (Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra)

 

The Quincy Jones Night will feature his artistic works over the past 50 years. The musicians in this production will spend the week studying the arrangements together in rehearsals to present a premier performance at the end of the week. The youth will be coached by Jazz icons such as:

Gil Goldstein (conductor, accordion), Eric Miyashiro (Ltp), George Robert (as), Eddie Henderson (tp), Marques Young (tb), Keith Anderson (ts), Adam Rogers (g), Helen Sung (p), Tamir Shmerling (b), Terri Lyne Carrington (dr)

 

The Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra will recruit players for the following instrumentation:

1 Flute, 3 trumpets, 1 alto sax, 2 tenor saxophones, 1 baritone sax, 3 trombones, 1 keyboard, 1 piano, 1 guitar, 1 drums, 1 percussion

Attention: Participants require a good command of the English Language!

All communication will be in English!

Besides daily rehearsals and concerts with professional guest artists there will be Jam Sessions & Workshops for Improvisation.

Auditions will be held in case applications exceed demand. Participants will be chosen based on level of musicianship and delight in crossover projects.

 

Cost of participation for students is FREE OF CHARGE!
