AYWE – Indian Night
For the first time at Jazzaar, here is a production that explores some of India’s rich musical traditions and progress in integrating with the given Afro American and European influences already ingrained within Jazzaar’s youth.
The programme consists of a variety of original compositions specially written for this occasion besides traditional Indian Ghazals and musical makeovers of Bollywood film songs. Contributing to the music/lyrics are:
Christian Jacob, Annette Philip, Barry Danielian, Fritz Renold, Helen Savari and Nalini Appan Iyengar and Dato’ Ravi Maran Savari.
Cover tunes are works by Ismail Darbar and AR Rahman.
The performances are programmed for instrumentation that spans from an ensemble setting to A Capella vocal renditions and to indulge in percussion duels to acoustic and electronic instrumental dialogues!
