AYJO – Hommage À Miles Davis

The memorable collaboration by Miles Davis and Gil Evans is now on Aarau’s horizon! An unusual array of famous and fabulous musicians of all ages will bring the jazz rendition of Gershwin’s ‘Porgy and Bess’ and a favourite piece from ‘Sketches of Spain’ called ‘Concierto de Aranjuez’ to Aarau under the direction of Fritz Renold.

It will be a treat to listen and watch Randy Brecker play Miles’ trumpet part. The orchestra will also feature Dave Taylor (bass trombone), Adam Nussbaum (drums) Steve Reid (lead trumpet), Tom Garling (trombone), Matt Marvuglio (flute), Eliane Zweifel (harp), Gildas Boclé (acoustic bass), and Christoph Schnyder (clarinet), Wolfgang Drechsler, David Acklin & Daniel Werren (French Horns) and Cyrill Schaub (Tuba).

The true attraction and a delight will be to witness extremely talented youth musicians of Aarau filling in the rest of the orchestral chairs sharing the stage with accomplished artists to tackle these intricate works of art, live!

Expect a nostalgic feast for the eyes and ears!

The legendary Dennis Montgomery on the Hammond B3 together with 12 dynamic gospel singers from Boston along with more singing and instrumental talents from Switzerland will perform along with a line up of prominent instrumental soloists such as Barrie Lee Hall Jr. (Trumpet), Willie Murillo (Trumpet), Shelley Carrol (Tenor Sax) and Vincent Gardner(Trombone).

The distinguished rhythm section for Whitney Houston comprising of Shedrick Mitchell (Pianist), Reggie Hamilton (Bass), Vernon Ice Black (Guitar), and Michael Baker (Drums) will provide the groove while Adi Yeshaya (Ms. Houston’s gifted musical arranger/director) will conduct the whole ensemble.
